Off-Track for an Offer

I was on track for an offer all summer at my I-banking associate internship and I just got a review that said I was off track. They are going to put me on an assignment that is more technical to "prove" myself but how serious is this?

With two weeks left is there even a remote chance of getting back ""on track", do people know what typically happens and if this is a complete game changer?

It's not a big deal if that's the only thing they expressed concerns about. Loop in an analyst about to jump on a quick deal/due diligence project and tell him/her you really want to own a model. If they like you, you'll be set. Just be sure to keep your staffer and HR in the loop.

Otherwise, try to replicate a model your team may have worked on and again, let the staffer and HR know.

You're not expected to build a model from scratch during your internship and the "lack of modeling" is something most associates get during their mid-summer reviews.
