Offer Rescinded - Chances?

I’m lateraling to a EB in a month or so as a senior analyst. After my acceptance of the offer, have had minimal contact with my new team. Just wondering given the macro backdrop - is it possible for them to rescind?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, rescinded offers are a possibility, especially in challenging macroeconomic conditions. While it's not guaranteed, there are a few factors to consider:

  1. Economic Downturns and Layoffs: During periods of economic uncertainty, banks may rescind offers to adjust headcount. For example, smaller banks or those facing revenue pressures might cut back on hiring to manage costs.

  2. Minimal Contact with the Team: Limited communication with your new team isn't necessarily a red flag, but staying proactive can help. Reaching out to HR or your future manager to confirm onboarding details might provide reassurance.

  3. Precedents in the Industry: There are cases where offers have been rescinded due to errors in applications or changes in hiring needs. For instance, one WSO thread mentions an offer being rescinded after HR flagged discrepancies in the candidate's application.

  4. Risk Mitigation: To protect yourself, consider keeping your network active and exploring backup options. If the offer is rescinded, having a plan B can help you pivot quickly.

While rescinded offers are not the norm, they are a possibility in volatile markets. Staying prepared and maintaining open communication with your future employer can help mitigate risks.
