Office Discord

How do you guys handle tension with folks at your office. Of course there would be a point (or several, on a day-day basis) in everyone's analyst career where senior analysts, associates, VPs get pissed off - either due to your shortcomings / being lazy / dumb etc, or their own PMS like symptoms. Curious to know how far can you afford to piss people off - either knowingly or unknowingly before it starts to affect your bonus / career etc.

If you're on of their top performing guys and they know they need you to get stuff done, you can probably get away with more than let's say someone who they're just waiting to dispose off.

If you know anything at all about BB culture, then you know there's a pecking order. An analyst can't afford to piss anybody off because he/she is more disposable than a BIC razor.

Higher ups, on the other hand, can get mad and it's almost always for the right reason. A pisspot analyst usually gets mad about his own inabilities, why share that with the world ?

Winners bring a bigger bag than you do. I have a degree in meritocracy.

I wasn't talking about pissing off pissing off, more like pushing back on work, doing it their own way, not coming in on the weekends when asked to etc. I've seen people do this pretty often and do fine w/ bonuses.Of course analysts are disposable but to get a new guy to teach stuff that takes 6+ months to be an expert in seems silly. Esp if this is over something trivial.
