O&G Modelling
Hey guys, looking for a NAV model or any resources to build one. Trying to learn how to model E&P companies but am struggling as there aren't many resources online. Already read some industry primers and the BIWS guide, but nothing in terms of modelling in either. Appreciate any help, thanks in advance!

This is the only one that isn't behind a paywall. There are some good learning resources out there but they're all pretty expensive.
Appreciate it!
Thank you handsome

What part are you looking to model in particular? Generally the corporate model is very easy (quantity x price - expenses) but the analysis get the production is where the heavy lifting comes into play. Happy to answer any q’s.
Honestly very new to learning energy, want to recruit for O&G banking it and a little unknown on where to start in terms of technical prep. I think starting out with building a NAV and comps for an E&P company would be a good start? Honestly the problem I'm running into is when it came to learning other industries I could just ask my friends/mentors to slip me a model and for help, plus tons of free material online but for energy it's been a struggle finding anything.
How would you recommend I approach learning about the industry? I've been reading a lot of Daniel Yergin's stuff along with the BIWS guide and some of the industry primers but do want to learn the modelling side and build a stock pitch. Would appreciate any recs for material, but would prefer not to spend $500 on the WSP course.
If you are recruiting for SA or full-time out of school no one expects you to build a NAV or anything. Learn the standard O&G technicals (Quizlet) as well as the regular guides. Most importantly, learn qualitatively about the industry. Follow trends, deal flow and industry reading. Hart Energy and RBN are great places to start. They want people who are interested in the space and know whats happening. You have to prove you like energy and want to stay in Texas.
Thank you!
