On the "Fast-track" to models & bottles

In London (and possibly in other cities?), there exists a "fast-track" recruiting process for full-time analyst programs.

E.g. while I was interning last summer in IBD, a fellow intern had full-time IBD interviews with another i-bank in London, way before the official recruiting for the following year had opened for said firm [big, German, you know the one)

Can anyone shed light on whether CSFB / MS / GS / JPM do this in London also?

All info appreciated! :P

p.s. - I'm pretty sure this process is associated with those intern events where your firm gets you to invite along friends who are interning at other firms to a drinks event where you get to talk to HR.

Both MS and JPM run fast-track recruiting in London. (I know because I went through it with them.) I'm willing to bet that GS and CS also do it.

In August, when interns are in the last few weeks of their programs, firms invite them to lunches, drinks, and dinners to meet their HR people and a few bankers. Firms will hand out these invitations to just about anyone at a BB or top MM/boutique who calls or goes through a contact. I recommend also trying to get a one-on-one meeting with HR or a contact to 'discuss opportunities at the firm'.

If at the end of August / start of September, you get an offer, you can then spring into action. Call or email all the firms you want to work for, and if they're interested in you, you can get a fast-track interview.

If you don't get an offer, you basically just need to wait for regular recruiting in a month or two.

The reason fast-track recruiting exists in London is that many firms issue offers that expire in 30 days, etc. In the US, by contrast, much recruiting is co-ordinated through university career centers which set various conditions on recruiters, in this case saying that offers must remain open until, say, November.

So it wouldn't surprise me if fast-track exists in other cities.

I can confirm that GS do this in London also. The firm invites groups of interns at other firms usually for breakfast meetings with HR and a VP or ED over a two week period toward the end of the summer. I have no information about CS.

Yo Endgame

A friend of mine confirmed that GS in London somehow managed to get invitations to these events placed physically on the desks of all interns at MS a couple of years ago.

But what other firms do GS consider for invites?

Please don't address me as "Yo Endgame".

The way it works is that the firm invites people who have gone through the process with GS, but have been, for one reason or another, unsuccessful in securing an offer.

However, given their perceived calibre, the firm assumes that these people may have, 1) secured an internship with another firm and 2) may have gained enough experience during their internship to successfully navigate the recruitment process a second time around.

Whatup69, the way you get invited to these meetings is applying to GS, not getting an offer, yet still being considered good enough to be given another chance. Not all those who attend the meetings are invited to interview.

As for other firms besides MS, GS cannot discriminate, since it doesn’t know where people end up. I remember one kid who worked at one of the Big 4 for the summer who was invited. He was, however, not extended an invitation to interview.

I applied online to GS in London. I had an on-campus interview with GS for the US. Is there any other way to do this? Also, does MS or any other firm have a similar procedure. I'm from a semi-target. Thanks
