One last shot

Hi Friends,

So as of now I haven't been able to secure a permanent role with any firm. H1 B Visa being one of the major hurdles. My bank did not sponsor my Visa as it is not a poilicy of their Operations division. Therefore I am assuming most banks won't do it for similar back office roles. I haven't given up as yet and still have 1.5 months before I would have to leave States. I have tried everything from Doostang to Linkedin but nothing has worked as of now. I am sure banks are hiring Internationals as I have friends who went to slightly better schools (semi-targets) and landed jobs at good firms. If you guys have any advice or connections who would be willing to help me, I would really appreciate if you can provide me with those. Getting a role in finance in India would not be difficult but the profile which I want(IB) would definitely be competitive. So if you know someone over there, that would be great too.

Thanks a lot.

I know for sure that Goldman sponsors a Visa for people even for their Back Office/Ops. So it is not that Banks do not sponsor you if you work in Ops. Although you should have been careful enough to research this earlier and work at a Bank that would sponsor you.

Have you used up your OPT? Even if they don't sponsor you for your H1B, you can still work for a year on your OPT.

First, use your OPT (not sure how that works). Beginning now and until OPT is done, network as much as you can. That's the best way for you to find work no matter your situation.

I checked out your resume too - you might want to look at the Mergers and Inquisitions article on resume writing and how to format it; aside from that you want to do a grammar check on yours as I saw a few usage mistakes in just the BofA listing.

I really think you should work on networking though - get to it and if you have time to read, check out "Never Eat Alone." Great book.

in it 2 win it
