Open Work Visa to increase chances of UK IB / Finance

I'm based in Canada, went to a somewhat known school, with experience at no name boutique IB. After speaking with UK bankers, I heard the market is down and visa sponsorship makes breaking in even tougher.

As a Canadian, I qualify for the Youth Mobility Scheme, giving me a 2-year open work permit (extendable to 3 years) in the UK. Would this improve my chances of landing MM IB interviews? Basically, I'd apply for this visa today and pay around $2k out of pocket, and 6 months later I can start work in the UK with any employer.

BBs/EBs are likely out of reach, but I want to try MM shops. It’s a moderate investment (with the NHS surcharge), but could be worth it long-term. Would love any advice—thanks!

might be hard to do the interviews given time differences but doesn't hurt to apply if you have the capacity. You don't need to pay before landing an offer id assume?

thanks for the reply. Actually, I'd need to pay for the visa today, and earliest I can start working with any employer is 6 months (which I'm hoping will be enough time for me to land something). I was thinking employers would just be more willing to talk to me if I'm ready to go work status-wise.
