Oppenheimer Edging Me?!?!?!
Long time viewer here but I literally created an account just to ask this question.
What is the deal with this bank and why do they take so long to get back to lateral candidates following the final round of interviews? Their interviews are very lengthy, drawn out, and not easy either so WTF is going on?
Feels like a game of cat and mouse with their HR department who won't give you a straight forward answer. HR also responds every 2-3 days and that is pissing me off too. They keep making promises to follow up at certain points in time and breaking those promises. The same job has also been reposted 5x on LinkedIn (by the company and through recruiters) so I'm confused.
Are they just collecting resumes and edging candidates or do they have any intent whatsoever on hiring anyone?
I really like the team and folks I've spoken to but I'm getting a bit irritated navigating their lateral process. Any insight here?
1. They could just be collecting resumes.
2. They could've only posted the job because they are required by law to do so when renewing visa's and work permits of current employees.
3. You could be on a waiting list and yes they are edging you until someone more qualified signs.
4. HR could just be that incompetent or traveling/on vacation.
5. You're not a great candidate and they're fucking with you because they do not respect you.
6. They require approval from the firm to hire someone else and that's taking longer than expected.
Hahaha I really hope it's not #5 but this was a very good response and I think #3 is most likely.
I'm so irritated because I turned down an offer for them and they're literally dragging their feet throughout this whole process. I feel like with how many interviews of theirs I've completed, I'm owed a concrete yes or no... at the very least.
Can you elaborate further on #2? Renewing permits/work visas requires them to post job? I was unaware of this. Recruiting right now. Any tips on how to distinguish between “fake” job postings for permits/work visas compared to actual processes

I’m sure they are just having to go through a bunch of internal approvals since your base is so high. I’m sure it’s not because you’re a mediocre candidate who won’t impact their bottom line one bit and they just don’t give a f*ck about your anxiety and feelings.

I went through the FT process and they gave me the next round of interviews every two weeks. Pretty frustrating.
