Do people just have it set to offline or on default? Have senior bankers mentioned it to you? I’m an incoming first year coming back from being a previous summer analyst.

I’m thinking about just setting it to offline from day 1
My firm has it disabled but I would turn that shit offline from the beginning. It's such a toxic feature
Had mine on for the first three months after hitting the desk and it caused me way too much stress feeling like I had to be online 24/7. Once I turned it off, no one really said anything apart from a one-off comment by VP but it has been way better now, especially on the days you're working from home and it's quiet.
If the other analysts have it off, would just set it offline since Day 1.
What was the one-off comment from VP???
I turned it off from day 1 to set a precedent. That said, I made sure to be on top of responses to messages for the first couple months so now I have leeway when my responses are slower.
