Parents want me to do Engineering then MBA. I want to go straight to Finance. Advice?

Ok here is my predicament. I've told my parents I want to go into finance, but they think going into engineering, working for couple years, and then getting my mba to break into business is the best option for me while I would rather work in IB, AM, TMT, Consulting, or Corp Fin( not sure exactly what field yet) right out of College. I have already started day trading, excel work for a CPA, and talking to IB workers around the area I live in. So, what should I tell my parents to convince them that going this route is fine?
