Partner at William Blair
What are partners at WB making? Curious because most banks are shifting away from this structure being public. Anyone know? Also how does this vary between departments?

Like any other bank- depends on seniority, productivity, etc. Floor for Partners is ~$1mm and in 2021 you had some partners making $20-30mm+. In general $2-5mm is a safe bet.
But is this true at WB? Also my MD is in Equity Research. Any idea on his comp? He's in a very hot sector. He’s a partner
Sounds a little high in my opinion, hardly any MDs across the street make those big numbers…

This might be true some years but certainly not true in a bad year.
Partnership split is basically just net income / partners. Most of revenue is paid out in bonus form by department (so if you’re a partner in IB, you get a performance bonus like anyone else + a partnership distribution). You can argue that bonuses might be slightly more generous at the top because of this, but some random wealth management partner isn’t making a ton of money because of banking revenue or the like.
