really depends on carry, co-invest + leverage. Principals/Directors definitely can make 2-5mm (some more) over the life of a fund depending on % carry. That's on top of annual base/bonus. Given the recent life of funds (very short, although it will lengthen-megafunds being spent every 1.5-3 years) this is a pretty good gig. Plenty of guys in early 30's who have made 10mm+ over last 3 years during boom, bet this will decline (right time right place, although they would argue their senior guys made a boatload more). Know a guy at Bstone who is 32 who went straight up from analyst who supposedly is worth 50mm, although a little more unusual, not completely out of the ordinary at the megafunds. John Gray is the co-head of the BS RE PE group and in his 30's still, and is supposedly going to take in the 100's of mm's from their old and new fund from his carry; obviously this group has prob been the most successful PE fund over the last 4 years of size given EOP, etc. There is a lot of $$ to go around, and actually not that many people at these megafunds--->lots of young, rich guys, and a few, old bn's
