PE Research

I'm currently in my sophomore year and was offered a research internship at a small pe. The partners of the pe have legit experience, but this internship doesn't seem too good. I will basically be researching companies and the research will not be too in-depth.

If I am aiming for a ib internship next year, would this help at all?

Also, what can I do to make the most out of it? I'm getting paid for the research position, so how would I go about asking to be more involved.
