phone tag with VP

so reached out to an alumni who is a VP at a BB last summer in preparation for SA recruiting coming up. he must have been really busy because he setup a phone call with a SA at the time from my school (major non-target) and I had an informational interview with him. the SA put in a good word for me and the VP gave me a call a couple months later out of the blue, but I was at a reception and couldnt take his call.

I tried to get back in touch with him since the missed call by sending him emails but got no reply. Called his cell in early december to see if he could talk but he was busy and said he would get back to me, but nothing yet. i know SA recruiting is happening now, what do you guys think would be the appropriate move to get on the radar? I havent actually had a full conversation with the VP so i don't want to just flat out ask if he can push my resume through, but time is ticking away.
