Placement analyst role for Corporate Banking at Citi Group

Dear Monkies,

I've managed to get my hands on in-person interviews for Placement Analyst at Citi Group as part of their Institutional Clients Group. More specifically within Corporate Banking. Since I am a sophomore undergraduate student, I was worrying about the progression from Corporate Banking towards Investment Banking.

Update: I have done some research and heard top performing CB's can pivot into Leveraged Finance and deal with the debt side of M&A transactions through syndicated / high-yield loans. Equally some of them resort to Investment Banking after a year or two. Is this true?

What is your take on this?

Yours sincerely,

Chimp.
