Please critique my stock pitch

hi guys. I am student interested in equity research/becoming an investor and wanted to open myself up for feedback on a stock pitch i did recently.

Only problem is that it isn't completely finished. I am a non-finance major with no idea how to do bear/bull case valuation.

I was curious if I could dm anyone and get tips on what I have so far and as well as get pointed in the right direction on how to perform a barebones valuation for companies. Thank you!

Based on previous WSO threads, here are some steps and tips to help you refine your stock pitch and perform a basic valuation:

  1. Structure Your Pitch:

    • Elevator Pitch: Start with a quick 2-3 second summary detailing the opportunity.
    • Company Overview: Provide a brief overview of the company, including its business model, products/services, and market position.
    • Industry Analysis: Explain the market size and why the firm is poised for growth in the future.
    • Company-Specific Information: Dive into the specifics of the company you are pitching, including recent performance and strategic initiatives.
    • Valuation: Perform a basic valuation using methods like DCF (Discounted Cash Flow) or comparables.
    • Investment Thesis: Summarize why you believe the stock is a good investment, including potential risks and mitigants.
  2. Valuation Basics:

    • DCF (Discounted Cash Flow): This involves projecting the company's free cash flows and discounting them back to their present value using the company's weighted average cost of capital (WACC).
    • Comps (Comparable Companies Analysis): Compare the company to similar companies in the industry using valuation multiples like P/E (Price to Earnings), EV/EBITDA (Enterprise Value to Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization), etc.
  3. Bear/Bull Case Valuation:

    • Bear Case: Consider the worst-case scenario where the company underperforms. Adjust your projections to reflect lower growth rates, higher costs, or other negative factors.
    • Bull Case: Consider the best-case scenario where the company outperforms. Adjust your projections to reflect higher growth rates, cost efficiencies, or other positive factors.
  4. Seeking Feedback:

    • Networking: Reach out to professionals in the field for feedback. You can email or message them on LinkedIn, explaining your interest and asking for a brief call or email exchange.
    • WSO Community: Utilize the Wall Street Oasis forums to ask for feedback. Many members are willing to help and provide insights based on their experience.
  5. Resources:

    • WSO Financial Modeling Series: Take advantage of the free financial modeling lessons offered by WSO, which include DCF, M&A, LBO, Comps, and Excel Modeling.
    • Books: Consider reading books like Paul Pignataro's "Financial Modeling and Valuation" for step-by-step guidance on financial modeling and valuation.

By following these steps and utilizing available resources, you can improve your stock pitch and gain a better understanding of valuation techniques. Good luck!
