Point72/Citadel/MLP SA rep? (LDN)

Hey everyone I'm keen to learn more about the equity hedge fund scene in LDN. I have learned about Point72 academy and similarly seen Citadel and Millenium have grad schemes for Long/Short equity. I'm interested in applying to their summer internship programs where they have them and have work experience/shadowing xp at some single manager hedge funds...

I'm not sure if I'm more interested in single-manager funds vs multi-manager funds so wanting to get more experience with the latter but was wondering how pigeon-holed one would be doing a SA at P72 or Citadel and not wanting to pursue that style of investing afterwards. Can you go recruit into banking SA etc?

Just curious what the reputation of their internship programs are in london as they only take a handful of kids each year for them and how well you can pivot into sellside or PE summers afterwards.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it seems like you're considering a summer analyst position at Point72, Citadel, or Millennium and are curious about the reputation of their programs in London, as well as the potential to pivot into sell-side or PE summers afterwards.

From what I've gathered, these firms are highly respected in the industry and their internship programs are considered quite competitive. They offer valuable experience, especially if you're interested in exploring the multi-manager fund environment.

However, it's important to note that transitioning from a hedge fund internship to a sell-side or PE role might not be as straightforward. Hedge funds and investment banks/PE firms look for different skill sets and experiences. While it's not impossible to make the switch, it might require additional networking and effort on your part.

As for being pigeon-holed, it's a valid concern. The multi-manager model is quite different from the single-manager model, and the skills and experiences might not be directly transferable. However, any experience in the industry can be valuable and can help you better understand what type of environment you thrive in.

Remember, it's all about what you make of the experience and how you leverage it for your future career goals. Good luck!
