Post-Final Round Info Call

Had my final round of interviews for a corporate banking summer 2025 internship (ik this is the IB forum but figured it'd be more active) last Wednesday. HR said that we'd be hearing back (both for acceptance or rejection) either end of that week or early this week. Still haven't heard anything back, but someone from their early careers team called me today and asked for my name, preferred email and phone number, and whether I'd need sponsorship to work in the US. Does this call mean anything, or is it just standard procedure?

Had this happen to me, ended up not getting the offer because they were between me and someone else, but I was the only one who needed sponsorshit - needless to say it was cheaper for them to accept the other dude haha

do you need sponsorship?

That sucks to hear man, I'm sorry about that. I don't need sponsorship and actually just received the official offer 5 mins ago, so same situation might've happened to me but flipped.
