post-MBA IB without ANY finance experience
Hi all! I will be starting my MBA this fall at Yale SOM, and am currently flipping through the 400Q. I have 3 years of pre-MBA experience in the education industry. The only finance experience I have so far is an intro accounting class.
The leadership in our finance club (which will be responsible for the ib recruiting in the fall) said no finance experience wouldn't really matter that much. But is it really tho?
Anything I should do before recruiting to compensate for my lack of experience? Maybe take an online finance class? Try to get into a case competition? Would love to hear your thoughts!
You'll be fine fam. Tons of my MBA classmates got IB without previous business experience. Instead of reading the 400Q guides and stuff, I would rather think about which industry/product groups you want to target. Being knowledgeable and passionate about certain sectors was key to securing an offer in my year.
