Project Finance to IB?

I just received an offer for a FT Project Finance position, however it is with a government agency. The types of transactions they work on seems legit but I'm worried about the stigma of having worked for the government on my CV. Do you think it is possible to transition to IB from this role after a year or so, maybe into a Power/Utilities group if I network enough? Its quite late into FT recruiting so I'm concerned about ending up with nothing but don't want to completely screw myself down the road either.
