Pulling research for my MD
Next week, I'll be going out to the target to pull together information on it that we'll use to make a lender presentation. But, my MD asked me to research the industry before.
What do you think is an MD's preferred medium for the product of my research? What do you guys give your VPs or MDs after your done researching an industry for them?
Why don't you ask him what he expects
Singing telegram.
Honestly though, I don't see how the answer could be anything other than a powerpoint presentation.
PIP'n ain't easy, bro.
PPT and an executive summary
In my group, I typically scour the internet for relevant trade journals listing the top 100 companies by sales, do small public information packs on the top 3-5 players (investor presentations, website info, acquisition history, earnings transcripts, etc.) and try to find any relevant research reports on the industry broadly.
I would take all of this information, make a nice cover page and table of contents, throw in some dividers, bind that bad boy and drop it in his box (from PDF). I would assume this format would be fine, but it is always good to ask for what he expects. You can even lay out the above with him as your "gameplan" and see what his initial reaction is.
Good luck!
