Pushing off offer by a year - how realistic?
Hey everyone,
Posting under anonymously so my employer cant see. College senior at a top target university with a job at a IB Boutique in NYC. I compete as a D1 athlete and have taken some big strides in my performance (Reaching top 50 in the country). I have an extra year of eligibility and have really started considering taking a 5th year grad program at a top business school and get in off of athletics.
How receptive would an employer in IB be if I ask to defer my start date by a year? I would come in with more education and an MBA from a top program. I had a friend do the same for BCG and they were fine with it.
Thanks.
You won’t be eligible. If you’re hundred percent committed to sports I would chase your dreams.
So you’re going to play lacrosse at Duke lol. Should do it. Accelerated program is great. You likely won’t get to be a post mba associate in IB but should be able to keep your analyst position, or worst case, get another.
