Not necessarily too early, they'll keep it on file, but they won't be looking at it until later this fall or next year. Make a lot of connections and touch base with them again in a couple of months when recruiting starts ramping up, they'll remember that you were ahead of the curve and already reached out.

When networking you can also incorporate questions that you may come up on in interviews that only analysts working there would know. Ask about why they picked that firm, what separates it culturally, if you're speaking to someone higher than associate maybe ask about their growth drivers and performance of different platforms.

This info can help you stand out on questions like "What do you know about our firm?", "Why Firm X?".

Apologies for the tangent.
