Quiet market - being proactive in getting recruited?
TLDR: Is it possible to get a role at a top MM PE fund if they are not recruiting?
Background: top tier bank, top team in London, 1.5 years full-time experience with previous PE internship during school.
I want to move into a small, mid cap PE firm with a strong name and robust historic performance. I believe I have the credentials to do so. The problem is, I have spoken to a lot of recruiters and none of them have vacancies at such places; only have US large cap or nobody small cap opportunities, neither of which interest me.
I am getting increasingly frustrated with IB and am keen to move in the current cycle. Two questions:
- Does the length of my experience hinder me from getting into a top MM fund?
- Does anyone have any stories / advice about how to break in to these firms, especially when they don't seem to be hiring?
Appreciate the help.
