Quitting After First 4 months

First-year analyst at a well-regarded bank and group. I like the people I work with, and the hours don't bother me.

The work itself tho hasn’t been particularly engaging. I’m also unsure how relevant the skills will be to my longer-term goals, especially with AI. At some point, I’d like to pursue something more entrepreneurial by joining an early-stage company or quickly growing company

I’m currently going through buy-side recruiting and have made progress with a few firms that interest me. For now, the plan is to see where those processes lead. If I accept an offer, I’d expect to do two years in banking. The options I’m weighing are:

  1. Start looking for startup GTM or operations roles now and leave banking if I find a good fit.
  2. Finish my first year, then explore those opportunities with more experience behind me.
  3. Stay for two years and move into an investing role -- tried and true path and provides financial security

Has anyone else questioned the banking path this early on? How did you decide whether to stick it out or try something different?

Would especially appreciate hearing from people who left during their first year and how that worked out. Also interested in the case for staying and giving the job more time.
