Recently interviewed for a lateral M&A Analyst role in London. It was a very extensive process, consisting of 7 interviews in total as well as a modelling test.
Its been 2 weeks since my final round interview and I've heard nothing even after following up. I know I've probably been dinged but I can't understand why they won't just tell me, any thoughts?

Could be a number of things. Do you know if they're still interviewing or apps are open? If not you might be #2/#3 and they're now waiting to hear from their top pick or even fill the role internally in the case of BBs (although I doubt they'd advertise a role of they can fill it internally)
Also, who did you chase? Was it the hiring manager / someone senior or junior?
Followed up with HR.. they were super response before but now not at all. You reckon I should reach out to someone in the team?
Did you interview with them too or were they involved in the process? If they weren't I'd try to avoid liaising with them...
I had 14 interviews for a lateral in London and got an automated rejection 2 weeks later.. Toughen up.

Seriously the team should have at least the courtesy to let you know through email that they rejected you.
I had 8 interviews for an SA position at Stephens and got no word back after that. No email, no call, nothing. (I didn't have a superday - the superday itself had 5+ more interviews).
It's been 6+ months - I wonder if they're still evaluating my candidacy. Screw banks that waste your time by interviewing you 5+ times.
I had three 1-hour interviews and a modelling test for a lateral position at one BB, which never (officially) got back even though I knew I passed.. as I later found out they instituted a bank-wide hiring freeze and I got caught-up before they could issue an offer
It could really be anything. I would continue interviewing at other places
