Everytime I speak to RBC IB ppl, they strike me as the insecure try-hards. None of the real players will mention every 15 seconds that "their US franchise is on the rise/now competing with the top players". Go with Jeff no contest.

Jefferies, despite the unwarranted hate they sometimes get on this forum, is actually a respected and legitimate shop, and you will have significantly better exit opps compared to those of RBC. RBC is a huge organization and it is well-recognized, but then again so is McDonalds...

All jokes aside, choose Jefferies.

The way I see it, RBC has a proven growth strategy that has landed them top 10 IB. In 2012 this probably wasn't a question but I think RBC is the only firm that you can legitimately contend as BB or MM. Jefferies is also great, but all things considered I don't see how you can answer this so blindly. Other than that RBC pays competitively on the street, and has a great overall culture termed "RBC Nice". Currently sits #9 on the league tables, and has a huge balance sheet which obviously has its own benefits. Most profitable bank in North America, 40% of Canadian market share. What am I missing that makes Jefferies so much better?
