RBS cancels Christmas parties
"Royal Bank of Scotland is cutting back on perks for its investment bankers.
The division's chief financial officer, Chris Kyle, has sent an internal memo telling staff the firm will not subsidise Christmas parties and other end-of-year entertainment.
In addition, it says no-one will be given new Blackberry phones, headsets or other telecoms equipment.
The RBS unit is also refusing to pay for any new magazine or newspaper subscriptions.
People working late have been told the bank will not pay for taxis to take them home until 10pm, an hour later than had previously been the case.
Staff are also reminded that all travel lasting less than four hours must be in economy class, without exception."

Sounds like they are becoming as thrifty as most Americans.
it's 10pm too for manhattan destinations. maybe london is different? and domestic flight under 2,200 miles must be in economy class. if that is internal travel, over 2,200 must also be in coach. this is a US bank policy.
They're still owned by the UK govt I think. Doesn't seem unreasonable to me, it'd look bad otherwise.

All banks should cancel their parties, this is no different than 2008. Trading revenues are down across the board and will continue to go down. Not sure why any traders/banks deserve perks for sucking, yes at 0% interest rates for eternity it makes hard to generate revenues but it is what it is.
lolz RBS too broke to afford Christmas. How long till we see John Hourican on the streets of London begging people for spare change?
