Recent IPO and M&A Activity

Hello,

Recruiting week starts this Monday for me, and I'm a bit nervous about the upcoming interviews.  I was wondering if you guys could fill me in on what recent IPOs or mergers would be good to talk about in an interview.  Thanks in advance!

Any, with which you are intimately familiar .

You need to follow business news relatively regularly to fare well in the interviews anyway. Firms know that candidates will pick up the WSJ a week before the interview. In my previous interviews, I got quizzed on deals that occured up to 5 years back (granted, they were major deals... but still...)

IPO Transactions are starting to pick up now that the year has restarted... Off the top of my head I can think of a few... Elixer Pharmacuticals, Maxum Petrolium (coming out soon), Riskmetrics, Cascal, IPC. As far as major M&A activity, I don't know which one of these is the next big one, but you could use VMW (VMWare) as an example of a very successful IPO launch.

A huge one: Bank of America's acquisition of Countrywide Financial. I say big because it's very relevant to the whole subprime crisis, which has been big news for the past 6-7 months.

Now, if I didn't read into this as much as I should have (and therefore got the facts wrong), someone please correct me.
