Regional MM to BB/EB ?

I'm looking for advice on whether to lateral in August or Sept? Currently working in Chicago at a BB in Asset Based Lending started as an analyst in Janaury and I'm thinking about going into IB in Atlanta/Chicago/Houston/Charlotte. I don't want to go to New York given the COL. However, in most of the cities that I want to work in there's not a strong BB/EB presence. Ideally, I want to work 3 years at a bank and get promoted to an associate. And, maybe consider B-school after 1 -2 years of associate. Based on my situation, should I try to lateral over the summer or should I do the 1 year first and possibly wait till next summer? How does working at a SunTrust in Atl or Baird in Chicago situation going to affect me long term, if I want to become an associate at a BB/EB?

Houston is different than the rest because its almost exclusively energy whereas the rest of the cities mentioned have a little of everything. Baird would be tougher to jump to from BB ABL. STRH pumps out debt on a lot of its deals, which would probably be the easiest transition, but you said earlier that JPM CCB has better exit ops in atlanta so do that

To be quite honest, Baird is more of a backup. I actually see a lot of analysts moved to Baird and other MM. I think a lot of these MM is a great firm, however I'm worried that it will impact my career negatively in anyway long term, assuming I don't want to stay in Chicago and complete the 3 years analyst program. And, given the amount of interaction with Lev Fin and sponsors, many of them actually lateral internally to lev fin or sponsors after 1 year. Therefore, I'm looking for advice to see if I should try to lateral internally after 1 year or should I try to lateral after 7 months to a MM.
