Def cancel on the big four it happens all the time and they will be happy for you. Those summer leadership programs are ways to just try to snap up the good talent before they learn what’s really out there. Don’t feel bad do what’s best for you
100% reneg
BB SA will open 1,000 more doors than a B4 internship. 100^ renege unless there is additional context not being shared in your OP. Assuming your primary concern is getting a bad reputation due to reneging, I wouldnt sweat it too much. You worked extremely hard for an exceptional offer, you would be crazy to take any B4 position over it.
Just to clarify, I am assuming this BB SA role is FO (IB , S&T, etc.). It would be a very different story if it were BO
Thank you, yes it is for a BB FO office role and my primary concern is getting a bad reputation
Reneging on a Big4 for a BB, no one will fault you for that.
No brainer. Renege it.
Abso-fucking-lutely
Renege it
One note—I wouldn’t say that you’re reneging for a specific role. Instead, send a polite email thanking them for the opportunity, but saying you won’t be able to join next summer.
Don’t update your LinkedIn until you’re on the desk for a few weeks
Should this be an email? I read that calling the campus recruiter is better, although I guess it doesn’t make a difference in terms of results would it
Renege all day every day. Don't tell them that you're accepting a BB SA instead. Just say due to personal circumstances, you have to step away from the position. And don't be that fag that updates their linkedin right away with iNcOmInG sUmMeR aNaLySt. Just wait until you get a return offer from the BB to be safe before updating the Linkedin. Remember, employment is at will. Banks would drop you like a fucking fly without a second thought if they needed to. At will goes both ways. You found an opportunity that will set you up way better in life than big 4. Ditch em
Wasn’t planning on updating the LinkedIn until I started the position at the very earliest haha. Do you think I should call my campus recruiter or would an email be better?
Email and then never respond. You never know what you could say on a call that could compromise you if you aren't thinking. Have a set email to them and then no matter what questions you receive in return just ignore
