Reneging Offer (Help)

Hi everyone, I was fortunate enough to land a corporate finance offer. I accepted the offer and then received a FT BB investment banking analyst offer think (MS/GS/JPM). Would it be a wise move to renege my corp finance offer and accept the one from (MS/GS/JPM). Even if I did not publicize the offer would I risk losing the BB offer?

This sounds bad, but my original dream was to work at MS/GS/JPM.

Yeah you absolutely should. In reality, I’m sure the place you accepted the CF offer from would rather have someone that really wants to be there instead of someone that will be second guessing their decision to turn down a BB IB offer their whole time at the company. They’ll move on. Also, the chances the BB finds out that you reneged in a CF offer are almost zero. It’s not like you’re reneging on Citi to accept a GS/JPM offer where people at the two firms definitely know each other.

No one here has mentioned Campus Recruiting. If you got the CF offer from a relationship at your MBA program, you run the risk of ruining that relationship between your MBA and that company. You also run the risk of pissing off your MBA program.

Not sure what the professional ramifications of either of those possibilities are, but it is something to consider.

edit: I mentioned MBA b/c you're listed as Summer Associate. The same applies for undergraduate positions, too.
