Reputation of South African Big Four I-Banks for US Employers

I'm considering applying to internships at the Big Four South African banks for this summer. What is the reputation of those in the states and how does it look for Americans to have international internships?

I don't work in the US, but I do work in a IB with a resources bent that has office in J-borg and Cape Town and a fair few people with terrible saffa accents, plus I've done one deal involving a South African mining company.

I still have no idea what would qualify as a big 4 South African bank.

I don't like pinotage either. How can anyone drink that crap?

Those who can, do. Those who can't, post threads about how to do it on WSO.

Big 4 would be ABSA, FirstRand, Standard Bank, Nedbank.

Barclays (through ABSA Capital) would be one of the big 4. Decent reputation.

RMB is a very highly rated local outfit (part of the Firstrand group) - got the best culture and tends to top the leaderboards more often

Standard Bank CIB is dominant in the African Continent - also relatively good.

Nedbank Capital (smallest of big 4) is pretty small in the IB space.

Investec is also an IB player here worth mentioning.

Global banks have IB branches in SA (UBS, Citi, BoAML, DB, JPM, GS, StanChart) but would typically pick up the scraps ito big deals.
