response to banker's email

so i'm trying to connect with a banker at X firm and i sent him an email in hopes of locking in an informational interview. I attached my resume for some background information. In my email, i requested a 15 min conversation and everything and when he responded, all he said was "do you intern for X at X (firm i'm starting my spring internship with in a few weeks)?"

How am i supposed to respond to this? Do i simply put "yes" and then request again that we talk sometime? Or is that being too naggy? I don't want to piss him off or sound too pushy

first issue: I don't work there yet, but i put it on my resume because I've been applying to jobs and wanted to include it on my resume (after all, i start there on the 3rd)

second issue: I don't know the guy he's referring to YET, but the guy he's talking about definitely works there

third issue: how do i respond to his email

How did you put it on your resume if you haven't even started? Did you just list it without putting any content below?

Yea

You are way overanalyzing this. I think everyone tends to do this when they first start networking. You're nervous, don't want to mess it up, weigh every word. Well here's the thing, this guy sees 500 emails a day. Read through your (probably too wordy) email in 10 seconds, picked out the highlight - that you work at another firm. Maybe he'll call up the other person and ask what they think of you.

Main point is to not overthink what you're writing. Be professional, yet conversational, and try not to come off as a weirdo. He most likely has a reason he asked. If he didn't care he wouldn't have wasted the time to reply so that's a probably a good sign.

Name,

Yes, I will be starting at X firm on January 3rd.

Best,

Name

Also, people on this site need to stop this "informational interview" term. To anyone working in industry who doesn't spend 50 hours a week on WSO that is what we refer to as a "conversation" or "phone call". I can't stress enough the need to just be normal, don't sound like some robot who thinks to get a job you unlock achievements like attain "informational interview" along the way.
