Career Resources
It's a generic idea that will get you called out on. It's unlikely anyone will give you any sort of credence unless you've won some serious cash.
More relevant for prop trading positions at certain companies (like SIG). But yes, usually not a difference-maker, though having it on your resume as a "hobby/interest" won't hurt you.
I think it's either hit or miss. If you are applying for a risk taking division, you should put it, in my opinion.
It's not really hit or miss at all. No one will even mention it in IB recruiting.
I actually was wondering the same idea. I have played for years even as an individual for other people.
If you can market it as using strategy, risk , and the account of our opponet would it be a good item to add to hobbies.
It probably won't make a difference either way.
I would. I included it on mine and it spurred several interesting conversations about the WSOP etc. I've never won a major tournament but I don't think anyone cared - it's just a good thing to show you're 3-dimensional. One guy did ask me a simple odds question (like drawing to a flush post flop) but it was super basic.
I have found that quite a few bankers are poker players or at least have some decent knowledge about it. So only put it in if you have some decent knowledge about the maths etc behind it, because chances are someone who knows a lot about poker will ask you questions about it. If interviewer does not play poker, you probably won't get any questions on it and it's fine...
Good idea if you want to work in trading.
