Return of Leerink Partners
Thoughts? Looks like SVB Securities is returning to its old name in Leerink Partners. Do you think there will be layoffs, as they have many more healthcare verticals than before? Baupost backing is interesting, wonder what the terms were there.
Looks like the tech team is gone at the least, press release mentions a healthcare focus.
Going back to healthcare-focused boutique. PR stated that the tech equity research platform they acquired isn't part of the transaction which makes sense.
I wonder if Leerink partners will be able to get the same amount of action as they did pre acquisition.
They have always been a huge ECM shop for SMID caps, so don't think that will get hit. They don't do much traditional M&A at least in pharma, so maybe just a decrease in that?
Bad time to spin out with an ECM focus. Jeff is nearly 60 at this point, not sure how much gas he has left in the tank.

They will always be a big player in small cap biotech ECM, but never nothing more than that
They’ll definitely have more M&A. SVB bolstered their MD group, poaching Guggs Medtech team for example.
Leerink continued to complete many HC svces deals throughout late winter through mgmt buyout. Great bankers and research analysts.
They are presently hiring research associates.
