Returning to IB after Corporate Development?

I started out at a BB coverage group several years ago and ended up jumping ship for a corp dev role within my second year as an analyst. Since then, I've been quickly promoted to a mid-level role and will probably be stuck here for a while before moving up again given very little turnover at higher level. Comp is definitely above market for being on the corporate side, but obviously well below where I'd be if I had stayed in banking and wealth creation is much more of a stock-vesting marathon than a sprint to big cash bonuses.

While my hours are pretty amazing, I'm still stuck in a high COL city and really tough to feel like you're building any wealth when a large portion of that is and will continue to come from stock that vests slowly. We're also a pretty mature company so unlikely the stock appreciates materially in the short term which means the LTI ends up feeling more like deferred cash than anything else. With all that said, I've started to think about jumping back to banking. The grueling experience I had as analyst has sort of worn off and I'm debating whether or not to get back in and to try and build a bit more wealth. I never enjoyed the work, but also haven't been able to kick the feeling that I got off the ride a little too early. Given my experience in CD (3+ years) many of my former colleagues think I could come in as a more senor associate and maybe even make the case for VP.

Question for the forum: am I crazy to consider this? The group I worked in before had a horrible culture and a lot of attrition (above what is normal). This would be at a totally different bank and with the potential upside of starting as a VP albeit in a group that tends to have higher hours across the street. Has anyone made a similar move? If so, was it worth it?
