Ridiculous to ask for a sign-on match / clawback

Ignore title, AN1 in the lateral market that received an offer to join a new firm thats a better fit WLB / and group wise for me. Unfortunately, my FT sign-on bonus includes a 2 year clawback clause. Is possible to negotiate them to match / pay the bonus out?

Separately (probably pushing it), do firms ever match sign on bonuses?

It's 100% worth flagging and politely asking, but in this market firms don't really need to pay your buyout so they may decline to, especially since very few others will have a buyout after the 1 year mark.

I would not ask for a buyout AND a signing bonus unless they've communicated one to you. Maybe in 2021, but right now you're basically lucky to be getting a lateral offer.

Hey!

wondering if you'd be open to sharing how you were able to lateral. Also fellow 1st year trying to move.

Would be awesome if you could PM
