Rotational Analyst Programs: Do they still exist?
I am going into a rotational program with a regional investment bank. I was just wondering if anyone knows of other ibanks that still offer this type of program.
Basically, it is an 18-month engagement with 3months training preceding it (everything from etiquette to training the street).
Has anyone else heard of banks offering this? And to those veterans, is an analyst with a rotational program under his/her belt better off than comparable 2nd year analysts?

The only bank I know for sure that has a rotational program is KeyBanc. I once heard JPMorgan did too, but I am not sure if that is correct. Anyways, the good thing about the rotational program is that you will gain exposure to multiple divisions (I-bank, S&T, Research, etc.), and will know what you want to do for sure after the program. Bad part is that you will not be as expereinced in the department you choose as analysts at other banks. And if you are doing the rotation at KeyBanc, then I wouldnt worry about comparing yourself to other 2nd year analysts. Just try to be the best in your class and then look at going to get an MBA.
Mr.Green: Thanks for the advice. The rotational program now has focuses (Capital Mkts, S&T, Real Estate). I am planning on doing the Cap Mkts. portion of the program--I am hoping that that a more focused series of rotations will allow me to be a more competitive hire when the program comes to a close.
An MBA after 2 years as an analyst? Is that a normal track? I always felt like there were a few more years of experience recommended.
I don't know about rotational, but Jefferies definitely has a generalist program where you're staffed on various industy / product deals for the first year, and then you choose your group the 2nd year.
Lazard has a rotational analyst program, 3 years long with 6-9 month secondments in different teams
Morgan Stanley has a cross divisional programme in their London office. Two years with rotations in investment banking and sales & trading.

HSBC does it and ABN AMRO used to - but I'm not sure anymore with the RBS takeover
