Salary and Bonus London IBD

Hi guys,

Does anyone have some insight on the typical salary bonus progression for IBD analysts in London (BB / good boutique / good MM firms). Let's assume we are dealing with a bank that's been faring relatively well (hasn't hit by massive waves of restructuring and layoffs etc)

The ballpark figures I have are:

Analyst 1: 45 salary, 40 bonus Analyst 2: 55 salary, 50 bonus Analyst 3: 65 salary, 60 bonus

Are these figures more or less accurate (I'm fairly confident for the Analyst 1 figures but really am just extrapolating for years 2 and 3)

Thanks

£45 is top end, and by vertue of that you're going to get a lot less when it comes to bonus time, banks are hopping on board with increased base, decrease bonus.

45k is the average base salary across the board = 70K USD

So for all of you saying the numbers for Analyst 2 and 3 are too high...what should they be then?

Should the base salaries be c. 51k and 57k then (c. 10k USD increase per year) ?

As for the bonuses, I know that 40k is historically in line with top 1st year bonuses, so what are we looking at for 2nd and 3rd years? (I kind of thought that since top bonuses are in line with corresponding base salaries, the numbers I put down were somewhat reasonable)

History is always a great predictor of the future! Oh wait, that's how we got in this mess.

History as in summer 2011...I'm really more interested in 2nd and 3rd year numbers as those are the ones I don't have many data points for.

Did you have anything else to offer? you know, like of value?

I know bases (public knowledge, use Google) and bonuses (through friends) of most BBs and elite boutiques, but since you're a stubborn cock I'll leave it at that.

There is nothing more that I hate than guys asking for advice, being given advice and guidance, then telling people they're wrong and ignoring it.

This. What an amazingly arrogant attitude he has.

Brb, quoting top bucket (i.e. 10% of analysts) numbers as realistic career expectations.

And base salaries go up by approx 10k usd a year, not 10k gbp. But this was also in the past. The new normal is all about donut bonuses and no raises.
