Scared to leave banking for buyside soon

Currently a first year Associate at a BB. Went A2A and honestly didn't have a problem with staying in banking long-term but ended up getting a MF opportunity that I couldn't pass on. Been having a lot of second thoughts because I am afraid I made the wrong decision and leaving a place where I am very well-regarded and likely have a path upwards. About to leave soon and as I get closer and closer I keep thinking I'll come back to banking. Is this normal? All of my friends are celebrating but I am dreading leaving.

Sounds like you have a good relationship with your group. Worst case, you can do your 2 years as an Associate at the MF and then go back to your banking gig, hopefully being able to come in as a more senior associate.

Who knows, you may like PE even more, and as you said, better to try it and know you don’t want to do PE long-term than never try at all and regret it in 20 years.
