Schools to Break into london
Hello,
I am considering masters degrees now.
Long term Goal: HF career.
Schools I'm questioning wether to apply or not: RSM, CBS, EDHEC, SSE, WHU.
Are the schools target for london finance or not?
I got better one's to apply to that are target for sure just want to me sure abt these ones.
Thank you!
Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's the breakdown of the schools you mentioned and their relevance for breaking into London finance:
RSM (Rotterdam School of Management): Generally considered a semi-target for London finance. It is more regionally focused, and its strength lies in the Netherlands. While it can provide opportunities, it is not a strong target for London.
CBS (Copenhagen Business School): Similar to RSM, CBS is mostly a regional program. It is not a strong target for London finance unless you are a national of the country or speak the local language.
EDHEC: EDHEC is ranked below ESSEC and HEC in terms of French schools. It is not considered a strong target for London finance, and its placement is weaker compared to other top-tier programs.
SSE (Stockholm School of Economics): SSE is a target only if you speak Swedish. Without the language, it is not considered a target for London finance.
WHU (Otto Beisheim School of Management): WHU is a target for German-speaking countries and has a strong reputation in Germany. However, for London finance, it is more of a semi-target.
Recommendation:
If you already have better schools to apply to that are confirmed targets (e.g., LSE, LBS, HEC, Oxbridge, Imperial), those would be stronger choices for breaking into London finance. The schools you listed are more semi-targets or regionally focused, and they may not provide the same level of access to London finance opportunities.

They're not core target for london, but the best in their own particular region. You'd have to do internships locally first, so pick one where you speak the language. Outside London, Switzerland has the best concentration of Hedge funds, followed by Germany/France so clearly St gallen or London core target schools will give you a big advantage.
Thank you very much!
What do you think of Warwick?
Is it *good enough*?
For undergrad yes of course. After lse and Oxbridge I'd say it's one of the best schools to do an undergrad for finance.
But for masters its really not at the same level. Much less selective, very low quality profiles and outcomes.
Is there any reason why youre excluding the usual schools in the uk (oxbridge lse imperial )?
