Seeking advice in energy investment banking space
G'ay Folks,
I am a second-year analyst at a major structure finance bank in NYC (Credit Agricole cib/Mizuho/ MUFG). Most of my experience is in structuring project financing deals for large Midstream and Downstream Oil and Gas companies. I also have some exposure in P3 infrastructure deals (although I don't think this is highly relevant in energy I-banking).
I have been having a blast covering Oil and Gas clients, love the science and complexity the industry sits on. I have been seriously considering a career in energy IB for a while. I want more responsibility and have an opportunity to understand the industry in more depth. Until now, I have been lucky enough to be exposed to a lot of financing deals, but the focus has been on the individual project basis.
Apologies for rambling, so my REAL question to you is... given I am based in NYC, what is the most productive way for me to network and do I realistically stand any chance of breaking in laterally into Houston IB?
