Sending Holiday Cards to Contacts / Helpful individuals
Is it completely acceptable (untacky) to send holiday cards to your contacts. I recently went through the recruiting season and got some great advice form individuals I cold-emailed / called. I feel this is the least I could do in terms of thanking them. I won't be working with most of those I send cards out to, would this still be tacky?
-In addition, what about sending a card to the associate that helped you land the interview (that I definitely would not have gotten without his cold-email response?)
Yes and Yes. Just a plain holiday card is fine. Especially to the older ones that used to get cards before the email age. They will definitely remember you and be willing to help you if you need help in the future
Also, in regards to the associate which I may be working for, would it seem as I am brownnosing a bit too much?
I'm actually curious about this too (except i was planning to just send emails). Does it matter if I haven't talked to some of these contacts for ~2 months?

Had a guy that is heavily invested with a firm that works closely with Paulson & Co. that has helped me out over the past few years while I've been in college. Got him a bottle of blue label for xmas. told me to send him my updated resume so he can pass it onto the firms CEO when he has dinner with him.
Not saying you should buy a $200 bottle of liquor for everyone, but they do appreciate being remembered, especially the older ones.

would it be crazy to send a totally bland/generic holiday card to former bosses with whom I have a tenuous/broken relationship?
I would like to pursue the "bigger person - no grudges" avenue and wish them a happy holiday season. Of course, I am just priming them for some possible references. only planning to sign my name under the generic "Season's Greetings" sort of message.

Time will heal a rocky relationship with a boss. They'll probably forget about why things were rocky sooner than you think. I can't imagine a boss holding a long term grudge unless they were a total prick. In short, no Xmas cards...just call them if you need a reference.
