If you're struggling to pass the Series 79 practice exams and the test is just around the corner, here are some actionable tips based on the most helpful WSO content:

  1. Focus on High-Yield Topics:
Write out and review the major topics that are frequently tested, such as:

    • IPOs
    • M&A
    • Tender Offers
    • Bankruptcy
    • Key Documents
    • Private Placements
    • Regulations
    • Suitability
    • Advisor Roles
    • Quantitative Analysis

These areas are critical, and understanding them can help you eliminate incorrect answers during the exam.

  2. Review Incorrect Answers:
When reviewing practice exams, focus on the questions you got wrong. Understand why the correct answer is right and why your choice was incorrect. This will help you identify patterns in your mistakes and avoid them on test day.

  3. Leverage Word Associations:
Use word associations to connect concepts. For example:

    • "Old investor > conservative investments > liquid + stable > munis, money market." This technique can help you quickly eliminate wrong answers.
  4. Don’t Overcomplicate:
Some questions in the QBank can be overly specific or unnecessarily complicated. Focus on understanding the core concepts rather than getting bogged down by overly detailed or niche questions.

  5. Knopman Resources:
If you have access to Knopman materials, prioritize their videos, workbooks, and QBank. These are highly recommended by others who have successfully passed the Series 79.

  6. Time Management:
With only a few days left, allocate your time wisely:

    • Spend the majority of your time reviewing weak areas.
    • Take at least one or two more full-length practice exams to build stamina and confidence.
    • Use flashcards or notes for quick reviews of key terms and concepts.
  7. Stay Calm and Confident:
Remember, the Series 79 is challenging but manageable. Focus on understanding the material at a high level and trust your preparation.

Good luck on Friday! You've got this!

Passed this morning. This is the best advice I got. For those worried that might be looking back on this thread, just put in the work by taking practice exams, keep your head up, and get a good nights rest.

Appreciate your help!

That’s what I’m hoping for. I’m like within -4/+2 of passing on all my practice exams. It’s stressful

Love the username. I studied a good amount but crammed the last 5 chapters plus all practice exams in the last few days

Word. Do you have knopman marks? Idk if I even did any practice tests. I just did the questions in that study guide over and over. There are a lot of parallels between those and the questions on the actual test, make sure you read that twice. Then a few of the 79 questions are just finance math that you actually will just know. I would make sure you pass them so create time to study.
