SF is on the comeback

I was on the SF hate train same as most people on this website for some time. I grew up in California but left for school to another part of the country and returned here as an analyst.

Yes, it is a tiny city compared to NYC and the nightlife scene dies by like 1:30am. Yes, it's expensive and parts of it are overrun by homeless people (Tenederloin).

It took me 2+ years but now having a solid group of friends and having figured out the dating dynamics, there are a lot of redeeming qualities, not to mention the fact that there are a lot of people moving back now from NYC to SF (transplants coming back mostly, but still). People complain about the dating scene because they try to approach it how you would in NYC/London at bars/clubs. I've found it easier to find committed partners here because it's a place people stay unlike NYC, and it's easy to find fit/active girls too

Weather year round, nature, local day trips, festivals, outdoor activities are all unmatched. The natural beauty of the city and the food scene is great as well, not to mention proximity to Vegas, Hawaii, and Asia. Career opps right now are booming too, the AI train is real

BYOG (bring your own girl) to SF and skip the dating scene, 9 out of 10 problems about SF solved (as per WSO).

That said every year I see good looking girls graduating undergrad at Berkeley, so either they are taken or move away, I don’t know why young guys like you can’t find them.

I attended some tech week events in SF a couple weeks ago and this city is where ambitious people from around the world come to learn and strike it rich.

Marina is where the last deep concentration of going out scene is.  However, as more people move back, I could see more spots come back over time.

Have compassion as well as ambition and you’ll go far in life. I am interested in digital immortality. Check out my blog at digitalimmortality.com
