Short Term Summer Internships

I'm in a situation where I could use some insight:

I currently took a semester off my sophomore year from school to attain an intern role for corporate finance in New York. While the experience I currently have is great, I hope to work in investment banking in the future and would like to intern for a small firm to be best prepared for junior year recruiting.

Here is the issue: My current corp fin internship extends past the standard IB SA start date.

I will have the July and August free to work, but I feel the length of time is too short for me to provide any benefit to firms, and these firms would have more "full time" interns in place already.

I would like to hear from you if there is hope to pursue a summer internship, and your advice on how to reach out to firms based on my situation.
