Should I ask my MD about my bonus?

I started my role in Nov. 2022. Another analyst on my team started Nov. 2021 and he told me that he received a 2021 bonus for the two months he worked. I have a one-on-one with my MD coming up. Would it be appropriate to bring this up?

Update: I didn’t have the balls to ask

I would say why not, can't hurt you right? Just approach it in a professional manner! lmk how it goes

Ok the intern telling me to go ahead tells me I should not do this. God bless you sir!

You are the type of person to complain about hardos in the finance industry, but then reply with a comment like that. I gave you a sincere answer and even asked you to lmk how it goes. Don't ask for feedback if you don't want it tough guy. Sit at your little desk and never ask pipsqueak, at least I'd have the balls to ask

Typically would say it depends on the context of your relationship with said MD - I’d be comfortable asking mine the same but mainly because he actively encourages such questions particularly from junior bankers. There’s no better way to learn conversational boundaries within the workspace than testing them out (obviously employing reasonable judgement while you’re at it).

Your phrasing and delivery are probably heavier determinants than the actual question itself in these situations.

I’m just going off what the analyst who started exactly one year before me got
