Should I include an original sport to stand out

Hey apes,

Fixing my resume for the next spring week recruitment cycle and was wondering if I should use 2 lines to mention American Football in my extra curricular section

We won the national uni championship last year and I have a few ideas on how I showcased leadership/dedication

Is it worth taking up 2 lines of my extra curricular activities section (which is ~8lines) or should I just list it in the additional info line ?

Any input is welcome

I played Div 1 soccer and included a line with 3 bullet points highlighting achievements and my role on the team.

My resume was split up into 3 main sections: Education, Experience, and Leadership & Activities. Under "Leadership & Activities" I had things such as involvement in my University's IB club, case studies, and being on the soccer team.

In my opinion, it is definitely worth dedicating a line on your involvement with your University's football team - there are a lot of former collegiate athletes in IB. Having this section saved my ass in super days and opened a lot of doors in terms of networking.

Hope this helps, and congrats on the chip.

I agree. I think sports / interests (especially sports where you performed at the top level) are great conversation starters. Allows the interviewee to make a real connection with you and to ask you about something you're passionate about.

Yes, Interests / Sports / Hobbies arent insanely professional, but they dont detract from a resume, and as for junior employees, I think they allow employers to get a better sense for who you are as a person.

Such a large part of interviewing someone is trying to answer the question of, "will I enjoy spending time with this person"? Common interests / sports / hobbies are a great way to answer that question organically.
