Should I splurge on a nice laptop if bank uses virtual desktop for internship?
Currently use a mac but will get a PC laptop for the summer. Does it matter if you get a nicer laptop if you are using a virtual desktop?

Career Resources
If it's just going to be a secondary computer then no, there's not really any point. A virtual desktop uses hardly any local resources.
Except a shit ton of RAM?
Can't say that's been the case in my experience. For clarity I've used both Citrix workspace and Microsoft virtual apps or whatever it's called. Citrix uses jack shit in local resources. MS virtual I think was pretty low too and I never had the slightest problem with it on my 6+ year old meh laptop.
Everyone else is mentioning the minimal local resources a virtual desktop uses, so I say splurge on everything else instead: a standup desk ($300 on Amazon), nice chair (Aeron or knockoff), mechanical keyboard (I have a Corsair K100 and I love it), and a curved monitor.
Do banks not give interns laptops?
